I was fortunate enough to travel throughout the beautiful state of Idaho for my higher education enjoying the varied regions. I started my journey obtaining my Associate of Science from North Idaho College in Coeur d’Alene with its many stunning mountains and lakes. I continued my education with a Bachelor of Science in Business, Accounting at the University of Idaho in the heart of the Palouse with its rolling hills and vast farmland. I finished my education with my Master of Science Accountancy, Taxation at Boise State College in the high desert of Boise near many rivers and mountains to explore.
Out of college in 2008, I began my career at one of the top 20 CPA firms in the U.S. where I prepared tax returns for many different industries including high net worth individuals, car dealerships, and telecommunication companies to name a few. While working hectic tax seasons, I studied for the CPA exam and became licensed in February 2011. This allowed me the opportunity to represent individuals before the IRS at a start-up resolution firm. I was there from day one, learning the industry, and I represented hundreds of clients before the IRS, successfully negotiating installment agreements, currently not collectible status, and offer in compromises. In addition, I managed the resolution department and trained dozens of EA’s, CPA’s, and attorneys how to negotiate effectively with the IRS. Finally, I spent 4 years in corporate accounting as the comptroller for a manufacturing company with nearly 200 employees, so I am well versed in handling complex financial situations. Now I’ve had the opportunity to build Real Tax Remedies with two of the best people I know, both professionally and personally, and to resolve clients’ past tax issues and provide real results.
Outside of work, I enjoy a wide range of activities. My wife and I travel as often as we can and have been to over 25 countries. On the active side, I have been weightlifting since 2004. I have found it to be a fantastic activity to strengthen not only my body but my mind as well, requiring me to push through tough sets even when I don’t feel like it. I discovered mountain biking in 2020, which is a ton of fun and amazing exercise, although wrecks happen more than I’d like, or is that just me? I also play racquetball, snowboard, hike, and swim when I get a chance. On the more relaxed side, I primarily play board games with friends and family and watch the occasional movie and tv show, and since I began volunteering in January 2019, I get to hang out and mentor my little brother through Big Brothers Big Sisters.
